Fano International Film Festival
has gained prestige and increasing importance over the years, both in italy and abroad. a noteworthy occasion of meeting and exchange for italian and foreign independent authors, it has become a benchmark for filmmakers, film industry professionals, and film trade publications.
The festival’s main aim is to promote the circulation of films by young directors expressing new ideas and feelings, to deal with contemporary topics, and at the same time to offer innovative hints of authentic formal, artistic, and film language research.
Having this aim in mind, the Festival has discovered and awarded up-and-coming authors who have become popular also thanks to the visibility offered by the event to the films often exclusively presented here.
Among the others: Giorgio Comaschi, Ciprì e Maresco, Antonio Rezza, Isabel Gardela, Marco Pozzi, Giuseppe Cederna, Beatrice Macola, Massimo Bonetti, Maria Asiride, Sukri Said, Fabrizia Sacchi, Silvia De Santis. It also welcomed well-known artists as Nino Castelnuovo, Remo Girone, Fabio Traversa, Sandra Ceccarelli, Corinna Lo Castro, Daniela Fazzolari, Massimo Dapporto, Ricky Tognazzi, Lorenza Indovina, Paola Pitagora, Alessandro Haber, Jean-Pierre Cassel, Elisabetta Rocchetti, Claudio “Greg” Gregori, Chiara Sani, Enzo Jacchetti, Enrico Silvestrin, Valeria Solarino, Daniela Virgilio, Isabella Ragonese, Neri Marcorè, Michela Cescon, Salvatore Cantalupo, Ambra Angiolini, Francesca Inaudi, Gianni Cavina, Jean Rochefort, Alessandra Mastronardi, Gérard Depardieu, Nicolas Vaporidis, Camilla Filippi, Kasia Smutniak, Giovanni Storti, and more.
With a total audience of approximately 10,000 people over the week, Fano International Film Festival is promoted and organized by the Fotovideocineclub of Fano in cooperation with private and public bodies like the Municipality of Fano, MiC-the Italian Ministry of Culture, the Italian Film Club Association (FEDIC), and with the support of local and national companies and institutions.
The 35th edition of the Festival will take place in Fano on 24th – 28th October 2023.

All topics are accepted. The Festival welcomes submissions of works shot on Super 8, on 16-35 mm film or in any digital format. Filmmakers often choose to submit to Fano International Film Festival to have their premiere or exclusive screening.
Over the years, the Festival has received about 10,000 submissions.

The Festival organizes significant art and cultural events such as opening ceremonies, art exhibitions, conferences, evening concerts, book presentations, and themed screenings, both in the month of October and during the rest of the year.
At the same time, it promotes the great local historical and artistic heritage and cooperates with local institutions and associations, offering opportunities to take guided tours of the town, as well as to discover the surroundings with day trips.
