Notice of Competition
- The Fedic Fotovideocineclub in Fano in collaboration with
Agis, Fano Town Council, the Italian Film-Club Association, the
Filmoteque of Marche, the Ministry of the Cultural Heritage and
Activity - Entertainment Department, Pesaro-Urbino Province, the Marche
Region, organises the 24th edition of Fano International Film Festival
2012 competition. It is reserved for both Italian and foreign directors
who have shot shorts over Super 8, 16 and 35 mm. film or videotape in the format
BETACAM SP, Hi8, MiniDV, DV, DVCAM, DVD, S-VHS PAL, etc. Film-to-tape
reversing will be also accepted. At first entrants shall only send DVD
or VHS PAL video-cassettes in order to allow the Jury to preview the
forwarded screenplays.
- Open is the subject-matter, and every single contestant may
submit up to two pieces of work, each one in its own cassette. Title,
original format, running time and production year are to be printed on
each of the cassette-boxes along with the name and the address of the
person responsible for the project. In order to have the information
correctly transcribed into the official event-catalogue, each of the
contestants shall duly complete in typescript the entry form herewith
enclosed (photocopies will be also accepted: please fill in a separate
entry form for each project). Besides, significant photos from the film
will be appreciated.
- Each piece is not to exceed 30 minutes in time.

They must be postmarked by Saturday 1st September 2012.
- A qualified Jury Board whose names will be notified by the
Press shall award what for the 1st, the 2nd, and the 3rd prize prize in
16 and 35 mm. film and digital sections. They will also award prizes
to the best feature film (film or digital) and the best director in the
Marche Region: "Mediateca delle Marche Prize", the best Degree Thesis
about Cinema, Best Actor and Actress. Besides, the "Shortvillage
Prize", consisting of a digital videocamera, will be awarded to the
best Italian short film.
- Each of the entrants will receive the scheduled programme
about the competition. Owing to the high number of contestants, only
the winners and finalists will be notified about by phone. Those who
wish to be informed about their films may get in touch with the Art
Direction or enter the Festival web site.
- On Saturday 20th October at 9.30 p.m. in Fano a
prize-giving ceremony is scheduled. On that day each of the awarded
films will screen. On the evenings Thurstday 18 nd and Friday 19rd
October the finalist work will screen and the Public and the Press will
be admitted. On the occasion directors will be ready to answer their
questions.
- Everyone entering the contest is responsible for the
subject-matters of their own pieces.
- The Festival Staff shall not be held responsible for any
theft, damage or loss which may occur to the pieces of work during the
total-length time of the event, even if it is their duty to keep them
safe.
- Not personally-collected pieces will be returned by parcel
at the end of the event together with copies of the Festival official
catalogue and the Jury minute book.
- Entrants shall observe regulations adopted by the Artistic
Direction, who reserves the right to judge the controversial cases or
anything not provided for.
